George in Monaco for Formula One

I was born in Munster, Germany to Ukrainian parents.  Our family immigrated to America when I was 3 years of age and I have lived in NJ most of my adult life.  I attended Passaic High School, William Patterson University, and am currently enrolled in an MBA program which will be completed in September, 2009.

I’ve been involved in the field of Information Technology for 29 years, starting at a retail company called Toys R Us.  I’ve been specifically working with data center infrastructure for the last 17 years and am currently employed by Nomura Securities International.  I support their data centers in the NY metropolitan area.  Nomura is a global financial services firm that is headquartered in Japan with offices in over 50 countries.

I’m an avid fan of Formula One (single seat, open wheel race car) and have been to a number of races around the world; I’ll be leaving for Montreal shortly. There are quite a few parallels between motor sports and business and to be successful in either requires dedication, determination, innovation, and proper funding.

For the last 8 months or so, I have had the privilege of being on the End User Advisory Council for the Blade Systems Alliance, where we are all working diligently to advance Blade application and adoption.   Ultimately, the end user is faced with the problem of taking a product and making it work in their specific environment.  Everyone in the Blade Systems Alliance has done a great deal to provide an honest assessment of the problems that blade users encounter.  This transparency has made the Alliance a very credible resource for the end user and I am extremely proud to be associated with such a fine organization.

Receiving the Chris Hipp award at the BladeSystems Insight Conference 2008 was a great honor for me. I will do all that I can to advance the knowledge, and promote the acceptance of Blade Systems in Data Centers.
