The event, taking place August 6-9, 2007 at the Moscone Center, will focus on new technologies and their impact on the data center, covering mission-critical applications and the technology supporting those applications including power and cooling issues. Our President Jim Hall will be moderating the “EPA Energy Efficiency Study Panel Session” being held Wednesday August 8 from 3 to 4 PM. The pavilion will host various presentations including information about the Blade Systems Alliance on Tuesday, August 7, 10:30 AM & 1:30 PM. Member companies in the pavilion will be presenting on a variety of topics. For a complete listing of sessions and times to be in the pavilion visit www.bladesystems.org/news. The member companies located in the Blade Systems Pavilion: Blade Systems Alliance As a featured speaker, Chris Hipp, who is often credited as father of blade computing and an advisor to Blade Systems Alliance (BladeS), will be presenting at the Blade Systems Pavilion at the Next Generation Data Center. Titled "Blade Servers and Beyond", Chris will be presenting on Tuesday, August 7, at 10:30 and 1:30 at the pavilion's theather area. Virtualization is becoming a hot topic in data centers. The benefits that this technology brings companies that are wishing to be a little more “green” are tremendous. For some insight on how to setup and manage virtualization the following whitepapers have been added to our website. “Virtual Server-SAN Connectivity" by Emulex. This paper explains how and why blade server virtualization and fiber channel SAN connectivity are rapidly being adopted. “Storage Area Network” from Brocade: “Virtualizing Embedded Switches, the Next Generation in SAN Connectivity” which discusses new advancements in Brocade SAN equipment. “VMware® Infrastructure on Dell PowerEdge Blade Servers” from Dell, which provides best practices for deploying VMware along with various possible configurations and their advantages and disadvantages. On the topic of cooling, we have several contributions as well. APC’s “Ten Cooling Solutions for High Density Server Deployments” which examines the main factors that reduce the operating efficiency and power density capability of a data center and ways to avoid those problems. “Being Green” is Siemon’s contribution to the site which provides ideas from early planning forward when working on LEED buildings or just working to conserve power. For these and other whitepapers be sure to check back often. The BladeSystems alliance has formed strategic alliances with AITP (Association of Information Technology Professionals), DMTF (Distributed Management Task Force), SNIA (Storage Networking Industry Association), OGF (Open Grid Forum) and TechTarget’s SearchDataCenter community. This cross pollination of professionals allow us to have a variety of experts available to answer questions and provide content on our eLearning site. It also provides our end users with a great pool of speaking talents for end user groups and industry events. To find out more about these alliances or to request a speaker, please contact our marketing team. |
